Last week I took a trip out of Manchester to the quaint village of Hale in the hope of trying something a little different; The Garden is a small café in the village high street offering just that. On the menu you’ll find nearly everything can be ordered as gluten free or vegan and their entire ethos promotes healthy living and sustainability, which is something we can really get behind!
To start off, I tried the Garden Burger, a homemade veggie burger sandwiched in a warm, crisp sourdough bun. The whole thing was hearty and fresh but with less all the guilt of a regular burger! It came with sweet potato wedges and homemade coleslaw, which was also crunchy and absolutely delicious.
Next, I tried the Halloumi Wrap, which was a fine balance of flavours thanks to the combination of harissa and tzatziki. The kick from the harissa was perfectly cooled down by the tzatziki. YUM!
For something a little sweeter, I decided to try the Vegan Chocolate Brownie and the Holy Cacao Mandala Smoothie Bowl. The Smoothie bowl was presented beautifully, and had wonderful balance of bitter and sweet. The brownie also had this wonderful balance, with the taste of cacao and coconut topped off with the absolutely delicious Booja-Booja ice cream. It's AMAZING, try it!
The whole menu is guilt free, very clean, fresh and healthy. They even stock specialist ingredients such as bee pollen and cacao powder, which I’ve been trying to find for aaaaages!
