Baltic Market | Liverpool

September 24, 2018

Liverpool has long been a supporter of the little guy, the hard workers and independent traders. There is currently no finer example for this than the Baltic Market, set up by no other than Independent Liverpool themselves.

The Baltic Triangle, Liverpools latest up and coming hub of independent shops, bar and restaurants, makes the ideal setting. Situated in the old Cains Brewery, the Market has a lot to offer. There is plenty of choice for food; from doughnut fries, burgers and beer, to fresh crab, okra fries and cocktails. Any one is welcome and the more the merrier. Apart from the food, there is also a cluster of independent shop stalls selling plants, clothes, ornaments and much more. (the perfect place for gift shopping!)

We had enough time to just try a few things. First up was the okra fries from Timmy Tikka. Timma Tikka is an east meets west fusion of western eating and Indian street food. Okra as a great ingredient to start and this dish proves their versatility in modern cooking. Topped with mint yoghurt and mango chutney and spiced just perfectly, this is a top recommendation.

Next we tried the chicken and beef bao from Poa! Do not miss this, absolutely perfectly cooked beef and chicken in a soft warm steamed bun, topped according with a mix of veg. And to add to that, you get a very fair portion for your money!

To top this all off, we treated ourselves to desserts from The Midnight Delivery. The Doughnut fries were a classic indulgent, American style, cinnamon sugared treat, but the blondie was much more grown up with a nice texture sweet taste without being sickly. After eating these we would definitely recommend getting one to share, the portions are very generous and there are lots of other things to try.

If you haven't already, follow @BalticMarket on Instagram to get their latest updates, and go down and check it out as soon as you can!
