If you haven't already heard of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, you would be forgiven for assuming they are some kind of parody psych band from only hearing the name. A parody however they are not, a psych rock band, they are. We went down to the O2 Ritz in Manchester to check them out live after their storming recent album release 'Nonagon Infinity', an album which when played on repeat, links in a never ending head spinning musical trip.

Their performance on the night was nothing short of fucking ridiculous. Standing somewhere in the middle of a buzzing crowd, we could feel the entire floor moving as soon as they opened their set. The energy they brought to the show made it hard to believe that this was the last show of their tour before returning home to Australia. Playing a mix of their songs seems difficult on paper, given the vast differences in music style from album to album. Despite this, they seamlessly blended the charming folk tracks from their previous album; 'Paper Mache Dream Balloon' into the raucous thumping rock from their most recent album. Altogether a satisfyingly noisy and fun performance, if they are playing anywhere near you soon, get tickets! You won't be dissapointed!
